AAUS Foundation

Our Mission

Support AAUS in facilitating the development of safe and productive sceintific divers through education, research, and the advancement of standards for scientifid diving practices, certifications and operations.

The Foundation

We are excited to introduce the newly formed AAUS Foundation. This 501c3 group, incorporated in 2010, will further the mission of AAUS by encouraging tax-deductible donations. The Foundation was organized for the support and promotion of the AAUS by furthering the Academy's mission of facilitating the development of safe and productive scientific divers through education, research and the advancement of standards for scientific diving practices, certifications and operations. Awards funded by AAUS include the Kathy Johnston and Kevin Gurr Scholarships, best student paper at the AAUS annual symposium and an internship opportunity is offered in conjunction with Our World Underwater.

Certification
The American Academy of Underwater Sciences offers AAUS Verification cards directly through our website for AAUS members that have been trained through a participating organization and are active scientific divers. Membership Levels
The AAUS provides a forum to share information on diving research, methodologies and funding while staying up with the latest standards of practice for training, equipment, diving procedures and managerial and regulatory experience.
Scholarships
The AAUS awards The Kevin Gurr Scholarship and The Kathy Johnston Scholarship to graduate students engaged in, or planning to begin, a research project in which diving is or will be used as a principal research tool or studying diving science.
